My Random Moments...

So it's about 10:00 PM. I have to get up at 5:00 AM for a 10 hour work day tomorrow. But as I sit here alone at my house, looking at other blogs, (yes I'm being a blog stalker) I can't help but think of how grateful for all I have in my life. And some things I'd like to change. Sorry if this is boring, but something I felt the need to type down :)

Here's my list of things I'm grateful for... and in no particular order.

1. My family. Where would I be without their love and support? I don't wanna know!!
2. Music. Oh music, how you keep me sane!!!
3. Dustin. My goodness I L-O-V-E that boy so much! He never fails to make me feel so special and SOO loved! He is truly my best friend.
4. Good friends, they keep me laughing!
5. My Heavenly Father. Words can't express my gratitude for the gospel and for his love.
6. A good job and wonderful co-workers. They make working more fun!

That's just a few of the many things on my mind tonight. Now for the "thing" I'd like to change. I say just one because as of right now this is a big thing I know I need to do, and I've been thinking about it a lot lately. I was reading another girl's blog and she talked goal to eat better. She threw out all the bad food and stuffed her fridge and cupboards with good, healthy food.
That was my extra nudge I needed to really realize I need to focus on this goal. I know I need to start eating WAY better than I do now, cause I feel it. I've heard it, thought it, felt it, and craved it, but dang it! Cooking and shopping for healthy food is so hard for me! I never was the type to be a little Miss Master Chef and have always reached for the sweets over veggies, but I sure would like to try!!! More of the greens and fruits, and a little less Arby's and McDonald's!!!
Also, I want to exercise more. Yes I know, I'm not doing it to loose weight, but just so I can feel better and feel stress FREEEE!!! So, starting from this point on, I'm cutting out the nasty crap foods, I'm busting out the running shoes again, and I believe tomorrow I will take a trip to the store and go on the hunt for better food! Wish me luck!! :P

St. George Half Marathon and 5K!!

Well, I did it! I finally ran the 5K (3 miles) in St. George. When we got there I was kinda bummed out though, because I wanted to run the 1/2 marathon with Jen. She pushed me to run and get in shape so she could have a running partner, but I was a lazy bum and didn't train like I was supposed to! But, now I have the motivation to get in shape for the next one that comes around. NO DOUBT!
The race was really fun. We had to be there at 5:30 AM to meet the buses. They took the "1/2 marathoners," as they called them, first. So us 5Kers had to sit and wait for about an hour. Then we finally got to loan up and head out to the starting point. I was getting pretty nervous, but once we got going I was more worried about my nose and hands freezing off! It was so cold! After the first half mile it got better though. I stuck with one girl the whole time that kept my same pace. That helped a lot. I'll be honest, I only ran once before the race... So I was feeling pretty proud of myself that I could keep up with this girl that, I'm sure, had some training behind her. Then to top it off, at the end I kicked it up on the last straight stretch to the finish line and I passed her, leaving her in my dust! It felt so good!! I finished with 10 minute miles, 4th in my age group of women, and 21st overall!
Pretty good for very, very little training right?!
This is where the runners high kicked in. I felt so good after running my 3 miles, that I decided to jump in the car with my family to go find Jen. We cheered her on and I jumped back on the road and finished the last 2 miles of her marathon with her. She was hurting pretty bad from the "killer hill" they had to run UP. She's such an inspiration to me. When she puts her mind to something, there's no stopping her. She did great and finished strong!
Me and Jen at the finish line! It was such an amazing feeling to have all these people I didn't know, along with my family, cheering me on right before I got to the finish line!
I was so glad my family was there. Em, Dallas and the kids got there a little later that day. It was so fun to have them there to watch us and cheer us on. I have such a great family!!! Thank you Jen for keeping me motivated, and thank you to my family for supporting us in our hobby! It means a lot!! Love you all!
